All he would have had to do was just put it back on. After he escaped the solution would be the kid would have to shave his head completely so it would be even, the pony tail guy was basically screwed and would have to grow it back out and the toupee guy would just put it back on and then the actual barber would give him his normal haircut.

The guy got himself into trouble. He was asking for a problem by being on the phone that long. He needed his assistant or an answering machine in order to help customers.

The barber should have answered the phone and tell them that he’s busy and just take down their name and number to call them back later or the next day. The barber could just ignore it as people can always call back! Or the barber should have locked the door until he was off the phone with then no one would be able to get in.

Of course this is a fictional tv show so they had to make the actual barber away from his job to show Mr Bean doing his funny antics.
